Welcome from the Chair of Governors
As the first Chair of Governors of the UCL Academy, I am delighted to be part of this exciting new school in Camden that I am determined will serve the borough and provide an outstanding educational experience to its students.
UCL was founded in 1826 to provide equality of education for all, and the UCL Academy will be a school which supports each and every child to enable them to succeed and fulfil their potential. To this end, UCL will use its extensive resources to raise students' aspirations and to invigorate the secondary curriculum. In particular, the school's science and mathematics specialisms will allow us to draw on UCL's own scientific strengths to bridge the gap between secondary and higher education in those subjects.
UCL already has a broad programme of activities with schools, including student mentoring, masterclasses and talks at schools by UCL's academics. The UCL Academy will allow us to work in a more targeted way with schools across Camden, and with the Academy's own pupils, and will explore new models for collaboration between schools and universities.
